Not Guilty Verdict for First-Degree Manslaughter
State v. C.M.— The client was involved in a T-bone DUI accident and two people were killed. Attorney Bruce Edge successfully argued to exclude DUI test results. The jury returned a NOT GUILTY verdict on a manslaughter charge stemming from this fatal accident.
State v. M.G.—This client was charged with manslaughter stemming from a DUI accident that killed a man on a mobile-assisted scooter. In a jury trial, attorney Bruce Edge discredited two of the state’s star witnesses. The jury returned a NOT GUILTY verdict.
State v. P.L. —Jury Trial. Client charged with DUI both Alcohol and Drugs. There was testimony that client admitted to taking shots of Rum and to taking Lortab. Jason and Bruce brought in an investigator, an expert, and witnesses. Jason argued from the beginning that it was the Government vs Us. Jury took a whole 18 minutes to come back with a unanimous “Not Guilty”!
First Degree Murder Charge Dismissed
State v. T.P. —First Degree Murder. Jason and Melanie took on a 14 year old Cold Case with DNA evidence. A shirt was found which contained both the victim’s blood and our client’s DNA and he was brought to face Murder charges 14 years later. Jason and Melanie took on the DNA evidence head on. They found multiple problems with it and attacked its reliability. The entire case was dismissed. A man who we truly believe was innocent of these charges got his life saved and got to go home.
State v. D.B.—This client was charged with aggravated DUI. After attorney Jason Edge had the DUI test results excluded, the charges were dismissed.
State v. T.C.—This client was charged with felony DUI based upon a prior conviction. Attorney Jason Edge successfully argued that the client’s prior DWI was not the equivalent of a DUI under Oklahoma law. The DUI charge was dismissed.
State v. L.H.—This teenaged client was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. The police officer entered the teenager’s home without a warrant and arrested her in her bedroom. Attorney Bruce Edge successfully argued that the arrest was illegal. The case was dismissed.
State v. IGH—This client was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. At the driver’s license hearing, Attorney Melanie Lander discovered that the officer did not have a proper reason for stopping IGH’s vehicle. Although IGH tested above the legal limit, the case against him was dismissed.
State v. C.K.— Won at Preliminary Hearing. Client charged with felony DUI Drugs. Client was found in the middle of somebody’s front yard, spinning his wheels as his car was stuck there. Allegations were that client must have left the roadway and driven over the curb into the yard. However, nobody ever saw him drive. Jason argued that since nobody ever saw him drive, all we have is an intoxicated person sitting in a car, in a yard – and you cannot have a DUI in a yard (only a public roadway). Judge agreed and charges were dismissed.
Other Felony Success
State v. R.B.—This client was charged with assault and battery, obstruction and resisting arrest following a fight with a neighbor. A police officer entered the client’s home without a warrant and arrested him. Attorney Jason Edge successfully argued that the arrest was illegal. The charges were dismissed.
State v. J.R.—This client held a commercial driver’s license and was charged with causing an accident for following too closely. Attorney Jason Edge took this case to trial. After a thorough and sifting cross-examination uncovered twelve distinct doubts by the arresting police officer, the jury returned a NOT GUILTY verdict. As a result, the client did not lose his commercial driver’s license.
State v. LN—This client was arrested for cultivation of marijuana. LN had numerous prior convictions and was not eligible for probation. For this reason, LN was facing a sentencing up to life in prison, without the possibility of parole. Through a combination of questioning the report and negotiation, Attorney Melanie Lander was successful in negotiating probation, and LN did not serve any prison time.
