Stalking in Oklahoma

Question: How is stalking defined, prosecuted and punished under Oklahoma law?

Answer: Stalking is a misdemeanor. This carries up to a year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine. However, a second stalking violation, if there is a protective order in place, is filed as a felony. Stalking is defined as the willful, malicious and repeated following or harassing of another person which would cause a reasonable person or a member of their immediate family to feel frightened, threatened, harassed or molested. Basically, it means don’t follow people; don’t stalk them online. It’s something that we don’t really see a lot of here in Oklahoma, but it is something which is punishable by law.
