There’s no place on earth for guys like Richard Beasley and his accomplice, who was 16 years old at the time, Brogan Rafferty. Beasley, 53, was sentenced to the death penalty for his involvement in a deadly plot to lure men with bogus Craigslist job offers. Three men were killed and the fourth injured. Rafferty was sentenced to life imprisonment because he was too young to receive the death penalty.

Jamie Larson, 49, of Federal Way, Wash., was charged with a hate crime against a Sikh cab driver after Larson repeatedly stomped on the 50-year-old India native’ head, all-the-while shouting out racial slurs and even pulling out some of his beard. The driver later told police, Larson commented on his turban and told him he shouldn’t have come to the U.S., saying his father was a soldier who had fought for America.

The mayor of Gainesville crashed his car around 2:20 a.m. last Thursday  He claimed that he fell asleep at the wheel, but a trooper said he smelled of alcohol and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He told authorities he had 3 beers earlier in the evening. He was charged with DUI with property damage and careless driving.

A guard from a medium security prison shot his own finger when trying to shoot off his wedding ring during an argument with his wife. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for the gunshot woud as well as for mental or emotional issues. He had been drinking heavily all day leading up to the shooting. He has been charged with disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment, and was cited for firing a weapon within city limits.

A police officer has been charged with perjury after discrepancies were found in his testimony for a DUI case. He has been recognized in the past for having the most DUI arrests in the department.He has now been placed on administrative leave without pay.

A 43-year-old off-duty cop was driving a pickup drunk in October 2011. He collided with another car, seriously injuring the driver. The drunk driver switched seats with his passenger to make it appear that the passenger had been driving. The injured man’s family requested leniency and the former officer was spared jail time after pleading guilty to charges of driving drunk and causing a crash. Instead, the man was placed on three years’ probation.

Helper’s former mayor has been formally charged with driving under the influence, marking the third time he’s faced a related charge since 1991.  Dean Armstrong was charged in Helper City Justice Court on March 5 with a DUI and being an alcohol-restricted driver, both class B misdemeanors.

A veteran Polk County deputy resigned this week after crashing her personal Ford F-350 truck into a unoccupied car parked outside of Fuzzy’s bar in Lake Wales while intoxicated.  Robin Mills, 43, was charged with one count of driving under the influence with property damage after the off-duty crash, which happened at about 11 p.m. Wednesday on North Scenic Highway.

A 38-year-old Sweet Home woman is facing a 10-year prison sentence for a drunken driving crash that killed another driver in November near Lowell.

Conway police have charged a public defender for Horry and Georgetown counties with drunken driving.

Melinda Knowles, 32, was charged with DUI and possession of an open container of alcohol after she was stopped near a school in Conway early Saturday.
