Consent to a Search in Oklahoma Explained

Question: Can you explain consent to a search in Oklahoma?

Answer: Consent to a search is basically exactly what it sounds like. The person who is being asked to be searched by the government, whatever government agency it is, allows that search. That search is almost always going to be one without a warrant, because if they had a warrant the government would not need your consent. A consent must be voluntary, it cannot be coerced by the police or a government agency. And one of the things that a lot of people don’t understand is that a consent once given can be revoked by the person who gave it at any time during the search. So you can consent to a search, get to a point where you are no longer comfortable with it and you can withdraw that consent and revoke it at any time.
